School Supply Delivery

School Supply Delivery

The Florida Department of Education hosted a school supply drive to support local schools as they prepare for the 2022-23 school year. On Tuesday, August 9, Commissioner Manny Diaz, Jr. delivered school supplies to Stewart Street Elementary School and James A. Shanks Middle School in Gadsden County. At the event, Commissioner Diaz thanked the staff for their dedication and wished them a successful school year.

Dads Take Your Child to School Day 2018

On September 26, 2018, The Florida Department of Education kicked off the 2018 Dads Take Your Child to School Day initiative in Alachua County at C.W. Norton Elementary School. The goal was to encourage all Floridian fathers and male role models, including our selfless heroes that serve and protect our great country, to take an active role in their child's education. Back to School Supply Drive

On August 30, 2018, Chancellor Hershel Lyons spent some time delivering school supplies donated from the DOE team to Oak Ridge Elementary and Franklin County K-12 School. While visiting, Chancellor Lyons spoke with several students and encouraged them to have a great 2018-19 school year. Later that afternoon Chancellor Lyons served as the host for the Department of Education's Back-to-School Kick-Off and Mentoring Fair! Guests speakers General Counsel Matthew Mears and Bureau Chief of Standards and Instructional Support Kathy Nobles shared their experiences and the importance of mentoring.
